Welcome back to another episode of Simba Sitting Shenanigans take 2!  

Last night, I took Simba for a short walk because you know, it was freezing. When we came back we played a game of tug-of-war to make sure Simba was tired enough to go to sleep. I came to a very important conclusion. Simba does not need to sleep with the noise machine! Over Shabbos I just had the noise machine on, but I decided last night to shut the noise machine and just play the music.  Simba slept the entire night! I woke up a few times because my brain kept thinking the music was my alarm going off, but I will work on that. (I think Jason probably has the noise for him but just says “it’s for Simba.”) I am hoping tonight we can have similar results as last night, without me thinking my alarm was going off.

This morning, Simba ate his breakfast (out of the bowl) and then we went for a walk.  He was super excited to play fetch. We almost didn’t play because he couldn’t contain his excitement long enough for me to take his leash off or take the ball out of my pocket. I started walking Simba back home but then decided to give him another chance.  Simba had a great time playing fetch! 

Then, I left Simba to get my nails done and go to the city.  On my way back from the city I saw this advertisement on the train:

I immediately thought of Jason and Simba’s ready-to-go bag.  For those of you who do not know, Jason keeps a bag under the sink with emergency supplies for Simba.  Inside this emergency bag is an extra copy of Simba’s care guide, because, you know, Jason doesn’t have it saved on his phone and computer (and I don’t either…oh wait Jason sent it to me at least 10 times…but most likely a lot more) There are extra toys, a pet first aid kit, new bowls, treats,  food and medications.  You will also find a water bottle, extra leash, shampoo and my personal favorite – an emergency hair brush.  Now you may ask, how often does Jason brush Simba’s fur?  The answer is not often enough that it needs to be in an emergency bag. (Even though the care guide says to brush it at least once a week, I’ll let you in on a little secret – Jason doesn’t do that. But shhhh don’t tell him I told you that!)

Jason also made sure to train me on the emergency evacuation procedures before he left and performed an emergency drill. All I have to say is poor Simba.  Jason started running around the apartment yelling “Emergency! Emergency! Simba there is an emergency!!!”  Then, Jason instructed me to pick up Simba, grab the ready-to-go bag from under the sink, and take his leash on the way out the door.  I informed Jason that his drill was completely unnecessary because I knew what to do in case of an actual emergency. Also, I am usually pretty calm in an emergency. I am most likely not going to be running around yelling “Emergency! Emergency!”

When I got home from the city, I prepared Simba’s dinner but he did not feel like cooperating in the eating dinner game.  We had another attempt at trying to get his ball out from under the couch, but once again that mission was unsuccessful.  I tried explaining to him that I can not see or reach the ball if he keeps getting in the way but he did not want to listen.  Maybe we will have better luck tomorrow.  

I used the last poop bag this morning and I remembered Jason told me the extras were in the bottom drawer.  I looked in the bottom drawer and couldn’t find it.  I contacted Jason because I thought maybe I was looking in the wrong place.  Sure enough I was looking in the right place, they were just all hiding.  

I took Simba for a quick walk and then I had to go out again.  When I returned, Simba decided to try the biting toes game again, but I made sure he was unsuccessful at that game.  Now he is slowly, but surely, eating his dinner in between making a mess by taking every single one of his toys out of the toy bin.
