Welcome back to another episode of Simba Sitting Shenanigans: Shabbos edition!
This Shabbos was a really fun one for both Simba and me. It started last night with a beautiful walk on the boardwalk, then we got to see a gorgeous sunset and Simba even saw his friend Teddy. In typical Simba-Teddy fashion, Simba was excited to go over and sniff Teddy, but Teddy could not care less. He just kept walking and didn’t even turn around to see that Simba was there. A few years ago, when I was watching Simba, Teddy came over for a playdate with Lucy. Simba was jumping all around with Lucy, but Teddy just walked around the apartment, sniffed everything and couldn’t care less that the other dogs were there.
After our walk, I brought Simba back to the apartment for his delicious dinner and went out for my Shabbos meal. Before I left, Simba and I had an epic game of Tug. Think about the video I posted yesterday and multiply it by 10. Sorry I couldn’t get another video; it was already Shabbos.
When I returned, I brushed Simba’s teeth. We are really making progress, guys. We’re not at expert level yet, but I have faith in us. We are definitely getting much better at brushing Simba’s teeth. Then we went for another quick walk and headed to bed.
I should have paid more attention when Simba walked into the bedroom, because he grabbed a squeaky toy. For those of you who don’t know, squeaky toys are very annoying in bed at night. When you are exhausted and trying to sleep, Simba thinks it’s time to play and squeaks the toy all night long. Thankfully, we got lucky and Simba only squeaked his toy for about 15 minutes before he fell asleep. Simba did wake up a couple of times during the night, but I reminded him it was not time to get up yet and he went back to sleep very quickly.
Simba and I even got to sleep in this morning. We slept until almost 10 o’clock! I gave Simba his medicine in his lamb chew, but for the first time on this adventure, Simba spit the pill out. I put it inside another piece of lamb and Simba ate it right away. I gave Simba half of his breakfast while I got ready for the day, then we headed out for another beautiful walk on the boardwalk. The weather was so beautiful today that we stayed outside for a very long time. When we came back inside, I gave Simba the rest of his breakfast and we sat on the balcony for a little bit to enjoy more fresh air. Then it was time for my next Shabbos meal so I took Simba for a short walk and headed out the door.
I ate lunch with Jason’s neighbor Rena and her family. Rena’s mom loves Simba so when I returned from lunch, I took Simba to visit her. She had such a nice time petting Simba and Simba was so calm. I was so proud of him! She even told Simba he was the cutest dog she knows!
On our way back to the apartment, we went for another nice long walk on the boardwalk. Simba met a bunch of children who had a great time petting him. Simba really enjoyed the weather. We returned to the apartment and relaxed on the couch for a while. I read my book and Simba napped on my lap. He was so relaxed that I had to wake him up at one point to make sure he was still breathing.
Oh! I forgot to tell you guys: I figured out what the mysterious blue thing Simba kept barking at yesterday was. It is a slow feeder game. I gave it to Simba today with some apple sauce. He was having a great time playing until I turned my head for a second. He got tired of playing, opened up the entire thing and just ate the rest of the apple sauce!
Simba and I got into a little fight today. He wanted to play the biting game and I do not like that game. I told Simba I would not play with him if he was going to be “biting” me in the process. I couldn’t stay mad at Simba for long. He just looked at me with his puppy dog eyes and I forgave him.
Then it was time for another walk. We took a beautiful sunset stroll down the boardwalk. Simba wanted to play in the sand, but I was still in my Shabbos clothes and didn’t want to get them full of sand. We came back to the apartment and I gave Simba his dinner. He ate it so quickly!
Then I headed out, because Shabbos was over and I had promised to take my brother to a kumzitz he had been looking forward to for a month. Now it is time for Simba and me to go to bed.
Tune in tomorrow for more Simba Sitting Shenanigans!
