Welcome back to Simba Sitting Shenanigans! Simba and I hope that you had a great week and are ready for Shabbat like we are!
Last night, when I returned to the apartment, Simba was so excited to see me! He couldn’t contain his excitement and kept running around in circles. I began cooking dinner because although Simba ate his dinner already, I didn’t eat yet. Simba was very well behaved while I was cooking dinner and on the phone. When the food was ready, Simba quietly sat at my feet. He didn’t beg or bark the entire time I was eating.
After I finished my dinner, Simba decided it was time for bed. He planted himself on the bed and was waiting for me. Unfortunately, I was not ready for bed, and Simba still needed to go for a walk. I was able to convince Simba to go for a short walk. Simba did his business and we headed back inside.
I took Simba’s leash off in the elevator, and he decided to run to a neighbor’s door and eat something off the floor. It was small and Simba ate it so quickly I have no idea what he ate. Thanks to Jason’s neurosis, I was worried all night that it was chocolate, raisin or a grape which is all fatal to dogs. I kept waking up all night to check on him and make sure he was alive.
When we got into the apartment, Simba once again ran straight to the bed. I was still on the phone and not ready to go to sleep. He brought a ball to bed instead of a stuffed animal. At one point he lost the ball and started digging on the bed. He went under the covers to look for the ball. After he found it, he relaxed and then went to sleep. I was on the phone for a little while longer, but eventually joined Simba in bed.

This morning, I texted Jason to let him know Simba was alive and to tell him how Simba has been such a good boy. Rookie mistake on my part. I should have never said that! After giving Simba breakfast and taking a shower, we headed out for our walk. Simba did not let me put his leash on, so I decided to do it in the elevator.
Simba began running like a maniac in the hallway. For some reason, Jason’s neighbors think the hallway is their own personal storage unit. Seriously, they keep EVERYTHING in the hallway! Simba stole some sidewalk chalk that someone left there. Not only would Simba not drop the chalk, he also ran away from the elevator and would not go in it. Finally he went to the second elevator, and let me put his leash on.
We got outside and Simba still had the chalk in his mouth. He wouldn’t listen to the command “drop it” and he tried biting when I tried taking it out of his mouth. I filled his bowl with water in hopes that he would drop it while he went to take a drink. Simba was too smart for that and wouldn’t take a drink. Then I threw a treat and that worked. I was able to quickly pick up the chalk and put it out of Simba’s reach. If anyone from the floor is missing chalk, you can find it on the water fountain by the playground. Sorry, I was not bringing it back to the building for Simba to steal again.

We returned to the apartment so I could go to work and Simba could prepare for his busy day of napping. After work, Simba got a special treat. His friend Seeyon came over for a few minutes. Simba was super excited and kept jumping on him. We went for a walk and then came back to the apartment to prepare for Shabbos.

Wishing everyone a great Shabbos!
