Take 5! Day 5!

Welcome back to Simba Sitting Shenanigans: Shabbos Edition!

We hope you had a relaxing and enjoyable Shabbos, we sure did! Also, I can’t forget to wish you a happy Nexgard Plus day! If you’ve been here before, you know that Nexgard is for fleas and tick prevention and Heartgard is for heart-worm prevention. Well, now they make a two-in-one called Nexgard Plus — it is one chew for the prevention of fleas/ticks AND heart-worm!

Speaking of Nexgard Plus day, let’s get right to today’s rule.

“On the 6th, he should be given his new Nexgard plus. He must be monitored for 48 hours for any side effects. This is a new dose and a combination of two meds he used to take. Please keep a bowel chart to track his BMs for two days following this. You do not have to keep a bowel chart the whole time but I’d appreciate if you do.”

Ok, so first of all, I am honored that Jason trusts me enough to give Simba medication, let alone a new medication. This must really mean he trusts me. Second of all, he trusted me to give it to Simba on Shabbos when he couldn’t contact me to remind me to give the medication or check in to see how he was doing. I am actually really proud of him! However, no. I am not keeping a bowel chart. Simba has been fine and I know when to monitor him! Also, Jason literally asks me if his poop is normal every single time I take him for a walk. Every. Single. Time.

Ok, back to our Shabbos. Last night Simba had a real treat! Our friends Akiva, Maitê, and Einstein came for dinner. Simba had so much fun playing with his best friend Einstein. He also had fun playing tug and fetch with Akiva. Akiva was very impressed with how strong Simba was. Unfortunately, Simba did not want to finish his dinner before they came over so we put it out of reach because we didn’t want Einstein eating Simba’s food. Simba decided our food smelled delicious and he wanted some. He was very disappointed when I wouldn’t share with him.

Akiva and Maitê saw Simba’s care guide on the counter and asked to see it. They were very impressed with how thorough Jason was. They asked if he really had an emergency bag under the sink so I took it out to show them. We all had a good laugh at my all time favorite item in the emergency bag – the emergency hairbrush! At one point Simba started barking at the tv. We thought he wanted to watch but we couldn’t turn it on because it was Shabbos. (Although I put on his relaxation video tonight and he is still barking at the tv, so I guess he was barking at something else.)

After the humans finished their dinner, Simba decided to eat his dinner while I cleaned up and put everything away. Then we went for a quick walk because we were both tired. Simba must have gotten enough rest because he woke me up at 6 am ready to start his day! I convinced Simba to stay in bed until around 8:30 and was somewhat successful.

I gave Simba his new Nexgard Plus and quickly learned he did not like it as much as the old one. He spit it out on the floor. I picked it up and broke it into smaller pieces which Simba ate out of my hand. Then, I prepared Simba’s breakfast which of course he was not interested in eating.

We went for a walk and Simba RAN back to the building after doing his business. He really did not want to go for a walk. We came inside and I started preparing for our lunch company. We had some time to spare so Simba and I cuddled on the couch while I read a book.

Simba had another treat today, our friends Rena and her mommy came over for lunch. Rena’s mommy loves seeing Simba and always reminds him that she voted for him in his contest. Simba was loving all the attention he was getting at lunch! Once again, he tried begging for food and followed me into the kitchen every time I went to get something. Rena and her mom also enjoyed reading the care guide. Rena’s favorite line was “Simba knows the command stay, however it is difficult for him at this time.”

After our guests left, Simba and I relaxed on the couch. I opened the balcony door to allow Simba to get fresh air, and he had conversations with all his doggie friends. We went for a walk but Simba was tired and wanted to go back home. He played all day and didn’t nap at all so he is pretty tired tonight.

We came back and relaxed on the couch some more. I made Simba’s dinner, but he isn’t ready to eat yet. He really wanted to cuddle but it is really hard to write the blog while he is lying on my lap so I had to move to the table.

Simba is now having a fun time making a mess and playing with all his toys. I swear I cleaned up his toys like 5 times today!

Simba is now going back and forth between his toys, eating his dinner and getting some fresh air on the balcony. I guess he is savoring the food to make it last longer!

Tune in tomorrow for more Simba Sitting Shenanigans and rule number 6!
