Welcome back to Simba Sitting Shenanigans: Chanukah Edition!
First of all I would like to wish all my loyal followers a happy Chanukah and happy Heartgard day!
I think last night went pretty smoothly. Honestly it’s been a long day but I am pretty sure we both slept through the night and did not have anything to report back. Oh wait! I forgot! Last night, I took a water bottle from my car when we were on our walk. Rookie mistake on my part because Simba loves water bottles. I had to spill out the rest of the water and let him play with the bottle. Then when we got back, Simba tried taking the water bottle to bed. This would not have been fun because Simba would have been making noises all night! Simba did not want to let go of the water bottle. He growled at me when I tried to take it from him. It’s cute but pretty rude of him. I ended up tricking him with a treat and quickly took away the water bottle.
This morning, as usual we had our morning routine. Simba ate his breakfast very quickly and then relaxed on the bed while I took my shower. Then, we headed outside for our morning walk. The first stop on our walk was to my car because I could not find Jason’s gift card from work. Thankfully, it was right where I thought I left it – in the cup holder of my car.
I reminded Simba that when we came back inside, he would need to take his heartgard for heart worm prevention. Simba seemed to be ok with that conversation. Then Jason texted me to remind me to give Simba his heartgard. I informed Jason that Simba and I had just had that conversation.
We were walking on the boardwalk, and when it was time to turn around, Simba started running! He was in such a hurry to get back. Maybe he was just really excited for his heartgard!
We returned to the apartment and once again I made Simba sit as if he was getting a treat before giving him the heartgard. This is bigger than the Nexgard so I had to break it up. Simba didn’t mind, it meant more treats for him!
I left Simba and headed to work. When I returned, I got a lovely welcome as usual. Somehow, Simba found the water bottle I had hid the night before and was playing with it again. I gave Simba an early dinner because I was heading to a cantorial choir concert in the city. Yes, I know I am a nerd for being so excited about a cantorial concert and sing along. I also learned today that not everyone thinks sing alongs are fun. Who would have known!?
Ok, getting back to Simba. When Simba was about halfway through his dinner we went for a walk. When we returned to the apartment, I prompted Simba to go finish his dinner. I was in a little bit of a rush so I left while Simba was still eating. I was expecting to come back to some food left in the bowl. Simba normally doesn’t eat if he is alone. To my surprise, the bowl was completely empty when I returned. I was so proud of Simba!

Tonight is the first night of Chanukah, so obviously I was instructed by Jason to give Simba a present. I told Jason that Simba was not allowed to get his present until after we lit candles. Jason was convinced Simba would know it was Chanukah and he did not want him to feel neglected by not getting a present on the first night. I tried explaining to Simba that it was Chanukah and he would get a present after we lit candles. Simba seemed very confused.
I lit the candles and then went to give Simba his present. Don’t worry I took a video for Jason so he would know that Simba enjoyed his present. Simba was so excited to get his present, and then tried getting more from the bag. (Obviously Jason bought him a gift for every night of Chanukah.) Jason, you have really spoiled your child. Now, remember how I am always saying that Simba does not need more toys. Well, within 5 minutes of Simba getting his new toy, he already destroyed it. And this, Simba, is why you can not have nice things.

Don’t worry, I do not want you to think I was left out of getting a present since I was not spending the first night of Chanukah with my family. Jason and Simba gifted me a beautiful new laptop case with a picture of Simba and me from their family photoshoot over the summer. Thank you so much! I love it!
Jason will be returning home tomorrow, so tune in for the final episode of Simba Sitting Shenanigans: Take 4!
