Welcome back to Simba Sitting Shenanigans!
Last night Simba and I enjoyed some nice relaxing time on the couch while I read a book and he played with his toys. Simba was not so interested in eating his dinner and I did not want to force him to eat. Like they always say, if he is hungry, he will eat.
We went for a walk, but it was rainy, gross and the wind was making weird noises. It can get kinda scary outside at night, so we stayed close to the building. Simba was not in the mood for a walk, so we walked around the building, and he led me back inside.
I once again tried offering Simba his dinner, but he ran to the bed with his squirrel toy. Last time I was here, Simba used to always take his “Simba” to bed, but now he rotates toys. I wonder who he is going to take tonight!
Simba was exhausted and fell asleep before I did! When Simba was sleeping, I remembered an important update that I forgot to inform everyone of last night. Simba goes for allergy shots once a month. Now, this is not like human allergy shots where you are being exposed to your allergens and building up a tolerance. Simba’s allergy shots are to help with the receptors to block the itchiness. I forgot what the exact name is. I know it’s in the care guide, but as I said yesterday – no, I am not reading that again. I tried telling Jason to make Simba’s appointments after work on Monday because everyone knows that is allergy shot day (that’s when I get allergy shots) however, Jason decided to go with the vet’s schedule instead.
Last night Simba slept really well and did not even wake me up by barking. My alarm woke him up this morning and he gently let me know he wanted me to get out of bed. I threw out his leftovers from dinner the night before and gave Simba fresh breakfast. It was still very early so I went back to bed for a little while. Simba came back to bed for some morning snuggles. Simba was not interested in eating his breakfast.
Simba was very well behaved while I took my shower and waited patiently on the bed until I returned. We went for a walk on the boardwalk before it started raining too hard. Simba decided to take his sweet time smelling all the rocks just as it started raining a little more.
When we returned from our walk, I tried prompting Simba to eat his breakfast, but was once again unsuccessful. I added some of Simba’s old breakfast to his current breakfast to see if that would encourage Simba to eat. Don’t tell Jason, Simba is supposed to be on a diet and will not be happy! That trick worked though because Simba ate all of his breakfast.
I left Simba and went to work, while he enjoyed a nice day of napping. He got a special treat when I came back to the apartment to pick up my lunch. Of course I had to play with him for a few minutes as well. (Shh don’t tell my boss).
After work I took Simba on a short walk as it was pouring outside. Simba tried playing the chasing game while I attempted to put on his rain gear. I told him I was not in the mood to play and he listened very nicely. On the way to the elevator, Simba was having trouble seeing through his raincoat. He actually ran to the wrong elevator! Thankfully he is a good listener and came to the right one.
When we returned, I prepared his dinner. Once again, he was not interested in eating. Then I had to leave for Cabaret rehearsal. If anyone is interested in coming to see me perform, please reach out and I will share the details. Some people say I am really talented.
Simba was so happy to see me when I returned. He enjoyed some cuddles on the couch and played with his toys while I ate dinner. I took the tiniest piece of liver I could find and put it in the bowl. This piqued his interest and Simba ate his dinner. Well, most of it anyway.

While I was writing tonight’s blog, Simba decided it was a good idea to lick my laptop. I told him I did not like that game and frankly I think it is gross. Simba understood and promised not to do it again.
Now the moment you have all been waiting for…. the rule of the day.
“Every evening have ‘floor time’ with Simba. This is when you get on the floor and sit or lie with him so he feels like he is at your level.”
Yeah…. no.
Simba is perfectly happy cuddling on the couch. There is absolutely no need for me to lie down on the floor.
Simba is currently alternating between enjoying fresh air on the balcony and eating the rest of his dinner.
Tune in tomorrow for more Simba Sitting Shenanigans and rule number 3 that I will be breaking! If you think today’s rule was ridiculous, just wait until tomorrow…
