Take 3! Day 5!

Shavua Tov and welcome back to Simba Sitting Shenanigans: Shabbos Edition!

Simba and I had a great Shabbos! Last night, we went for a nice walk. Once again, Simba was confused by the Shabbos elevator as he usually is on Shabbos. Jason should really get him a dog calendar to let him know when it’ll be Shabbos so he knows to expect the Shabbos elevator. I expect this calendar by the next time I am watching Simba.

Simba saw his friend Max and made a new friend on the boardwalk. After our walk, Simba enjoyed a delicious dinner with a couple of added liver treats. I know he isn’t supposed to be having so many treats, but I wanted to give him a little Shabbos treat. And anyway, calories don’t count on Shabbos! Also, I really think he lost weight! I guess we will find out at his next vet visit.

After Simba ate his dinner, I went out for my Shabbos meal. When I returned, Simba was very happy to see me. We went for a quick walk and when we got out of the elevator, we encountered a neighbor who was scared of Simba! She screamed so loud! It was a good thing we were in the lobby or the whole building would have woken up. Thankfully, Simba was very well behaved and just ignored her and did not try to play.

When we returned from our walk, we headed straight to bed because it was late and we were both very tired. Simba and I took advantage of it being Shabbos and decided to sleep in. Ok, we only slept until about 8:45, but that is still pretty late compared to during the week when I have to be at work before 8:30. We were both very grateful for the extra sleep.

Simba enjoyed his breakfast while I got dressed. Then we headed outside. It was so hot this morning, it felt like it was still summer! Simba saw his friends, Santa and Bubbles, and happily played with them outside. Then, Simba came back inside to relax while I went to shul.

After shul, I took simba for another walk which he also enjoyed. Then, we relaxed for a little while before I went to one of Jason’s neighbors for lunch. By this time, Simba remembered it was Shabbos. He knew not to try to get off the elevator at every floor. He even recognized when it was our floor and knew to get off. I was so proud of him!

Since I was having lunch with neighbors on the same floor, Simba came to say hello, and then returned to the apartment to relax while we ate.

After lunch, Simba played with his toys while I attempted to read my book. I say I attempted to read, because a certain someone wanted me to play with him instead. I wonder who that could be? He kept barking, bringing toys to me and even tried to steal my book! Eventually, Simba decided to play on his own and I was able to read for a while. I opened the door to allow Simba on to the balcony, however, he just started barking at the cars outside, so I closed the door.

We went for another walk. This time, Simba and I walked with his friend Einstein and his dad Akiva. Simba was so excited! When we returned, we went into the elevator together. The Shabbos elevator stops on the top floor first and then each floor beneath it. Since Einstein and Akiva live directly above Simba and Jason, the elevator stopped on their floor first. Simba decided to get off the elevator with Einstein! Akiva said that Simba could come over for a playdate and he would bring him back when they were done playing.

I returned to the apartment and took advantage of this opportunity to clean up some of Simba’s toys without him there. As soon as I finished cleaning, I heard a knock on the door. Simba changed his mind and did not want to go to Einstein’s apartment. He wanted Einstein to play at his apartment instead!

Within 5 minutes of Simba’s return, he already took 10 toys out of the bin. So much for my cleaning up! After Einstein left, I gave Simba his dinner and then I read my book while Simba played with more of his toys. I promise you when I say that Simba does NOT need anymore toys. But I’m sure Jason already bought him at least 5 in Disney.

Simba had another visit from Seeyon today and was very happy to see him again. Simba loves company and attention! After Seeyon left, Simba and I relaxed until Shabbos ended. Simba even fell asleep on my lap. It was so cute!

After Shabbos ended, I took out my computer to start the blog. However, Simba became very attention-seeking and kept barking at me so I would play with him. Eventually, he allowed me to start writing because he knew all my loyal followers were anxiously waiting to hear how our Shabbos was!
